CONSUMER BRAND MANAGER
Meet our resident Consumer Brand Manager, Fenella, who looks after all of our ecommerce, digital marketing and social media platforms. This Dermalogica Evangelist is intensely passionate about all things Dermalogica, so much so, she packed up all her belongings into her car and relocated from Wellington for the job! Here at head office we like to call this girl Funella for her infectious enthusiasm, big smile and dance floor moves.
Can you tell us a little about yourself and your role?
Anything digital has my name written all over it! I am the face (and finger tips) behind our website, social media accounts and emails. I also write the content for all our promotional and advertising activity – I’m a busy girl!
Three words that your friends would use to describe you?
Hardworking, happy and I’d like to think they would say I’m funny too!
What do you love most about the Dermalogica brand?
Where do I start? If you had to put it down to one thing I think is that it works. There’s no flash packaging or catchy slogans it’s just a great product and I think that’s reflected in the amount of loyal, happy customers we have. Plus it makes my job easy!

"I'm lucky enough to work alongside some very talented and inspiring woman."
What’s the best thing about your role?
Im lucky enough to work alongside some very talented and inspiring woman.
Talk us through an average day for you.
No day is the same for me, I’m in the office early and always the last to leave (I can’t help myself). I write the majority of the content for our emails, social media, blogs and advertising campaigns as well as help manage our sponsorship partnerships and run events.
What’s most challenging about your role?
Time management, I wear a lot of hats so sometimes it means I have to prioritise what’s more important which can be hard because I want to do it all.
What might people be surprised to know about what you do?
Running social media pages is hard work, it takes a lot of strategy and planning. Its not as 'instant' as it seems, I often plan a lot of our content a month or two in advance.
How do you relax at the end of the day?
My job involves being on screens all day so it’s important for me to make sure I’m taking time away from that when I get home (easier said than done!). Doing things like going for a run, heading to the gym or just making the most of being outside during the warmer months (or an evening swim in the pool if I’m game enough).
They say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.
"Great skin is the best foundation you will own"
Best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Take every opportunity that is thrown your way.
Favourite Holiday spot in NZ?
It would have to me my hometown in Wellington! I love heading home for the summer and seeing all of my friends and family! - even if its a little windy
Your biggest skincare concern?
Hormonal breakouts are my oldest enemy. So making sure I am keeping my skin clean and hydrated goes a long way.
One Dermalogica product you couldn’t live without?
Skin perfect Primer SPF30 - cant go a day without that bad boy!
Favourite skincare trick?
Exfoliating your skin before applying a masque is a great trick for clearing the way for all the wonderful ingredients of your masque to absorb properly!
One thing you have learnt since working for dermalogica.
So many things! - I am very lucky to work with such an education driven brand.
I think the one thing that has stuck the most though is that great skin is the best foundation you will own. An artist wouldn't spend a fortune on expensive paint only to use it on a dirty, uneven canvas so why would we? Trust me on this one, having great skin will save you a lot of time and money on makeup.
